Energy and Climate Change
Energy Workstream
We take a data-first, user-centered approach to expand access to clean energy at community, institutional, and household levels. Our work focuses on clean cooking, off‑grid systems, and energy efficiency, combining technical analytics with practical design. We develop digital tools, decision-support platforms, and data products that help policymakers, innovators, and communities drive inclusive and equitable energy transitions.
Climate Change Workstream
Our climate research focuses on fast and locally grounded action. We conduct applied research on the causes, consequences, and mitigation strategies of climate change, with particular attention to its disproportionate impact on those on the margins of society. We develop models, analytics, and policy frameworks that support climate adaptation and resilience-building at community, county, and national levels. Our work bridges the gap between climate science and actionable implementation, ensuring that the most exposed communities are equipped to adapt and thrive.
Governance
The focus of this domain is grounded in the recognition that an informed citizenry is the foundation of effective governance. Across Sub-Saharan Africa, a critical gap exists between what governments are mandated to deliver and what the vulnerable populations actually receive — not always because resources are absent, but because citizens lack knowledge of their rights, and governments operate without sufficient public oversight.
